North Lawndale: Ogden Avenue Corridor Improvements Project

RECONNECTING COMMUNITIES AND NEIGHBORHOODS CAPITAL CONSTRUCTION grant application 2023

The City of Chicago is enthusiastic for the opportunity to submit an application to the Reconnecting Communities and Neighborhoods Capital Construction grant to transform Ogden Avenue from a barrier to the centerpiece of North Lawndale. This project will reduce vehicle lanes and repurpose space for non-vehicular uses, green space, and community activity. The project will address the community’s safety concerns while also providing opportunities for active transportation by providing pedestrian refuge medians, protected bike lanes, ADA accessible bus stops, and more. This project is an opportunity to create a cohesive identity and develop a community-oriented aesthetic for the corridor.
